With more and more social media platforms becoming relevant to almost all Internet marketing campaigns we have an every increasing issue of managing accounts. Yes more platforms are becoming more relevant to your business or clients’ businesses. Confident marketers with communication skills can relay to competent business owners/decision makers the strategy behind establishing a brand presence on a new platform with high target market adoption rate despite lead potential or ROI considerations.
That being said, McCrossen’s marketing tech stack is complex. We invest in a stack using a proven a suite of SAAS vendors and a separate suite that is categorized as testing applications. Many of the applications we use focus around search engine marketing and social media management. A platform with proven track record like Sprout Social that helps us manage more than just the publishing process, but also the social engagement process for clients certainly increases our capacity and value in the market space.
Yet we don’t rely entirely one management platforms for all our work. Case in point: The owner, Matt McCrossen, is out around San Antonio on the weekend spending time with the kids at Phil Hardberger Park and sees something relevant to one client, on one platform, e.g. Instagram. Matt is not going to give up family time for non emergency work on the weekends. At the same time though a 20 second social media opportunity should just be a quick photo snap in the same way it would for personal social.
Instagram is a great example of a social platform we manage either directly via the iOS or Android application on our device, or via an API using a management application. In this case, on a great day like today we can easily use our personal devices to capture a great blue sky or unique photo of blooming trees. The 20 or so seconds that we take to open the app, switch profiles, snap a pic, apply a filter and publish adds value to the clients’ feed with engaging content found out and about in San Antonio.

Word of caution to my fellow consultants and agencies. Make sure you have the correct insurance if you manage social, have a UAC policy and liability waiver clients sign. I (Matt the owner) have plans to control liability and mistakes as my company grows, but right now I only have instant publication authorization for all of my clients’ accounts. You don’t need your employees accidentally posting to your client’s account when they thought the photo/video was going to their personal account!
